Main Street Minute: Tempe solar company joins bid effort for India project

• Sales are up, but net income is down at a popular Valley restaurant. Third-quarter sales at Scottsdale-based Kona Grill rose more than $30 million, up more than 22 percent from a year ago. Revenue fell 47 percent to $349,000, partly because of expansion.

• Tempe-based First Solar is teaming up with Acme Solar Energy to try to win a bid to build power plants across southern India. The two companies have pledged to sell power at rates about one-third cheaper than the global average.

• DriveTime Automotive Group is moving its corporate headquarters to Tempe. Construction on the 96,000 square-foot office at Rio Salado Parkway and Priest Drive is scheduled to begin by the end of the year. DriveTime plans to hire 300 employees when the building is completed next November.
