PHOENIX — Duke may have won the NCAA tournament, but one Arizona brewery took home a title of its own on Wednesday.
Thrillist announced Tempe-based Four Peaks Brewery won the popular vote in the website’s version of March Madness. More than 1.5 million votes were cast.
Entering the beer brackets as a 13 seed, Four Peaks defeated — in order — Funky Buddha, Hardywood, Cigar City, Good People and the mighty Dogfish Head breweries on its way to the championship matchup against Michigan-based Founders.
Though the Midwestern brewery put up a fight, Four Peaks toppled their opponent with 51 percent of the vote.
Everyone loves a Cinderella story, right? They must, because Four Peaks — which boasts Arizona’s highest-rated beer — was an underdog the entire way.
We’ll toast to that!
