Ex-convict pleads not guilty in Mesa, Arizona shooting spree

PHOENIX — An ex-convict with a history of violence pleaded not guilty Monday to a March crime spree in Mesa
that included murder, a carjacking and a home invasion.
Ryan Giroux pled not guilty. His next court date is May 28 before Commissioner Jerry Bernstein.

Giroux faced 23 counts of 1st -degree murder and numerous other crimes in
the March 18 shootings that left one dead and five others were
wounded.
The shootings began at the Tri-City Inn motel, where David James Williams died.
Giroux, 41, then shot and wounded someone at a nearby restaurant run by the East Valley Institute of Technology. He also shot two people at apartment complexes.
After an hourslong search, authorities found Giroux in a vacant apartment near Dobson Road and Eighth Avenue.
Giroux’s criminal record included convictions in three states and prison time in Arizona.
