PHOENIX — The University of Arizona unveiled a new lifelike mannequin Thursday designed to train medical students to deliver children.
The Victoria birthing simulator instructs students in a range of clinical birthing scenarios, from a standard vaginal birth to a Caesarian section.
“The birthing model gives them that sense of being in a delivery room environment,” Dr. Maria Manriques said, adding the simulator is connected to numerous medical devices to enhance the training.
The simulator is the only one of its kind in the Southwest.
