Arizona may not have had a team that competed in the Super Bowl, but the state is still celebrating.
Phoenix-area hotels struck it rich, seeing record numbers during Super Bowl XLIX, the Phoenix Business Journal reports. In fact, hotels set revenue highs Super Bowl weekend, with the highest revenue per available room in metro Phoenix history.
Hotel occupancy was also up as football fans came to town. Downtown Phoenix especially profited, with lodging near the numerous Super Bowl activities booked for months.
“The Super Bowl’s power to generate revenue for our hotel industry is historically unrivaled, but this year’s game exceeded our expectations,” said Michael Mooney, executive vice president and chief operating officer for Visit Phoenix. “And the positive impact was felt across eight hotel submarkets in the metro area.”
It remains to be seen if Arizona tops this record the next time Glendale hosts the big game!
