Arizona agency offers incentive for off-road motorists to wear helmets

As the weather heats up in the Valley, off-road motorists are gearing up to hit the trails on dirt bikes and ATVs.

The Arizona Game and Fish Department has launched a new contest to encourage riders to wear a helmet this year.

“‘Show Us Your Helmet Hair” is a contest that we are running, and basically we are wanting our constituents to submit pictures or videos while they are out riding,” said Matt Eberhart, an off-highway vehicle safety education coordinator with the Game and Fish Department.

Eberhart said riders can submit pictures on social media using the hashtag “#azhelmethair.”

“That’ll get you entered into the contest, and then we’ll be able to look through and see the submissions. And then the community sponsor of each month is going to select the winner,” he said.

Each month, a different winner will be selected to receive various prizes, such as outdoors gear or gift cards.
