PHOENIX — Spring training is almost upon us and 15 of the 30 Major League Baseball teams will soon be here in the Valley.
“It’s pretty exciting for us. I think that we are the only city in the Cactus League now that has two stadiums, for two individual teams to play,” said Steven Wright with the city of Mesa.
“We know we’re going to have a great turn-out of fans and it’s going to be a great year.”
The Cubs’ first year at Sloan Park broke a few Cactus League attendance records.
“They pretty much sold out every single game last year, that was over 12,000 fans at each game over there, it’s a beautiful facility and they’re already on track to do the same thing this year,” Wright said.
Pitchers and catchers report Feb. 18-22.
