KTAR’s Main Street Minute focuses on local businesses that are hiring, opening and hosting events across the community. These stories air each weekday on KTAR at 7:27 a.m.

• A job fair was scheduled for Thursday near Sky Harbor Airport. The event runs from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Crowne Plaza Phoenix Airport Hotel at 44th and Washington streets. Local, regional and Fortune 500 companies with immediate job openings will be attendance.

• Wireless-service provider Cricket is celebrating its 17th birthday giving away doughnuts Thursday morning. The company was giving out hundreds of the sweet treats from 8 a.m. until 10 a.m. at the light rail stop near 19th Avenue and Camelback Road, and again from 10 a.m. until noon at the Central Avenue and Van Buren Street stop.

• The IRS’ volunteer tax assistance program offers free help to filers who meet its criteria. The help is for anyone who earns $54,000 or less, those with disabilities, the elderly and those who speak little English.
