PHOENIX — A “vague statement” of a suspicious device halted light rail service in downtown Phoenix on Friday.
“We had a citizen make a vague statement about suspicious device in the area of the light rail,” Sgt. John Howard with Phoenix Police said. “We have found nothing to corroborate the statement but are thoroughly checking to be certain.”
Unconfirmed reports said the train was evacuated near Third and Washington streets and moved to another location so police could investigate.
Service was quickly returned to normal.
