PHOENIX — Video from a Flagstaff police officer’s body camera showed the young man asking a suspect if he could check him for a weapon just moments before the officer was shot to death.
Flagstaff Police released the video of the Dec. 27 death of Officer Tyler Stewart, 24, who was talking to a suspect of domestic violence.
Police had said shortly after the shooting that Robert Smith, 28, had shot Stewart after the two had a low-key talk about the abuse allegations.
The video showed Stewart and Smith standing outside a Flagstaff home. Smith’s hands were in his pocket.
WARNING: The video does not show the shooting but could still be disturbing to some.
