The city of Glendale starts 2015 buoyed by additional job growth, new business and major projects to the list of accomplishments last year.

Over a dozen businesses picked Glendale as a new home or expanded operations resulting in the creation of just over 1,826 new jobs.

“It was possible largely in part with our relationships with the development community, site-selection community and of course with GPEC and the Arizona Commerce Authority,” said Dave McAlindin with Glendale’s Economic Development Office. “It all works together when we work together and we were fortunate enough to get companies to locate in Glendale.”

According to the city, the new or expanding businesses occupy more than 1.1 million square-feet of space in Glendale resulting in the city having an occupancy rate of 94.4 percent for industrial space, 92.9 percent for retail and 74.7 percent for office space with only a few main office buildings of significant size remaining citywide.
