PHOENIX — A photo of a canyon in northern Arizona set a world record Tuesday when it was sold for $6.5 million at a Las Vegas auction.
The photo of Antelope Canyon, called “Phantom,” was taken by Peter Lik, who has snapped four of the 20 most expensive photos in the world.
“The purpose of all my photos is to capture the power of nature and convey it in a way that inspires someone to feel passionate and connected to the image,” Lik told PR NewsWire.
The photo was sold to a private collector who declined to be identified.
Antelope Canyon is located near Page, Ariz., close to the Arizona-Utah border.
