Dec 5, 2014, 7:23 AM | Updated: 7:24 am

PHOENIX — Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer will make her second
straight visit to Hawaii to mark the anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor.

Last year Brewer became the first Arizona governor to lay a wreath at the USS Arizona Memorial and she’ll be doing that again Sunday. Admiral Phillip Sawyer, a Phoenix native, made the request.

“Very moving, very moving. Such an honor for me to be able to be with the admiral on Pearl Harbor day to memorialize all those people,” Brewer said.

The outgoing governor said she can visualize that Dec. 7, 1941 at the memorial site.

“The oil is still leaking from the USS Arizona. You can visualize the bombers coming in, people leaving their quarters, people swimming ashore, fire on the water. What a sacrifice they made for all of us,” she aid.

She tweeted from last year’s visit:

The trip to Pearl Harbor is one of her final duties before she leaves office in early January.

We want to hear from you.
