Tucson named among best US cities for hotel value

If you’re looking to get a good bang for your buck when it comes to a hotel room, one Arizona city promises better value than all of its in-state competitors.

The hotel-booking site Trivago has developed a “best value cities” index for 2015, ranking the top 50 destinations in the U.S.

The only Arizona representative on the rundown is Tucson, which is listed with an average price of $104 for a standard double room. Some states had several cities named, so even though Arizona only counts one, it’s better than being left off the list entirely.

Tucson placed 31st in the index, falling just behind Richmond, Virginia, and just ahead of Irving, Texas.

The top five cities on the list, in order, are Macon, Georgia; Branson, Missouri; Montgomery, Alabama; Lincoln, Nebraska; and Wichita, Kansas. Looks like a Southern and Midwestern theme emerged.

Trivago’s Best Value Index used an algorithm that combined the company’s own Hotel Price Index with its Reputation Ranking for hotels.

The trivago Hotel Price Index shows the
average overnight accommodation prices for a standard double room on trivago. The Best Value Index ranks cities with 50 or more hotels, based on a combination of consumer ratings and average hotel prices from 1-50 with 1 being the highest ranked.

The best-rated hotels in Tucson on Trivago, from first through fifth, are White Stallion Ranch, the Arizona Inn, Catalina Park Inn, Adobe Rose Inn and the Royal Elizabeth.

According to its website, Trivago is the world’s largest online hotel search site, comparing rates on hundreds of millions of hotels from more than 175 booking sites worldwide. The Dusseldorf, Germany-based company utilizes more than 140 million ratings and 14 million photos in order to help its users find the right hotel.

We want to hear from you.
