Home fire sends plume of smoke over West Valley

PHOENIX — An apparent home fire sent a plume of smoke over the West Valley on Wednesday.
News helicopter footage showed the home near 47th Avenue and Bethany Home Road to be nearly engulfed in flames.
At least one person was inside the home and one firefighter was reportedly injured.

Glendale firefighters said the Phoenix firefighter had just entered the home when something happened with the fire, possibly a flare-up or backdraft.
He was immediately pulled out of the home and had burns on his hands and torso.
He was treated on scene and transported to the Arizona Burn Center at Maricopa Medical Center.
47th Avenue and Bethany Home Road is closed to traffic.
