Former ASU player Jaelen Strong arrested in Arizona on pot charges

PHOENIX — Former Arizona State University wide receiver Jaelen Strong was arrested over the weekend for allegedly possessing marijuana, Scottsdale police said.

Strong was riding in a black Maserati near Fifth Avenue and Drinkwater Boulevard on Sunday night when the driver, former ASU player and Green Bay Packers cornerback Damarious Randall, was pulled over.
Police said the car allegedly had no visible license plate.
Police said a strong smell of marijuana was coming from the car. Strong allegedly admitted to having marijuana on him before giving an officer a cigar box containing three marijuana cigarettes.
Strong was charged with possession of marijuana. Police said Randall and another passenger in the car were released at the scene. Strong was booked into Scottsdale City Jail before being released.
Strong played two seasons at ASU. He was taken in the third round of the 2015 NFL Draft by the Houston Texans.
Rick Smith, the team’s general manager and executive vice president of football operations, said Monday the Texans were aware of the incident involving Strong.
“We are disappointed in the choices Jaelen made to put himself in this situation,” Smith said in a statement. “We will have no further comment at this time.”
