PHOENIX — Phoenix emergency crews were called to downtown Phoenix on Monday morning after a man became ill near the courthouse.
Authorities shut down Third Avenue from Adams to Jefferson streets for nearly two hours.
The unidentified man initially told first responders that his wife had recently been to West Africa, causing crews to treat the scene near Third Avenue and Washington Street as a hazmat situation. A doctor from the Centers for Disease Control said the man did not show any signs of Ebola.
Responding units took “infectious disease precautions” when they arrived, said a fire department spokesman.
