How to safely watch Thursday’s solar eclipse

A partial solar eclipse will occur Thursday as the moon passes over the sun, blocking part of the sun from view.

It will be visible in Arizona from 2:21 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. If you’re going to take a peek, be careful — it is dangerous to stare at the sun, even if it’s partially covered.

Here’s how to safely watch the phenomenon:

• Wear special eclipse glasses.

• Make a pinhole projector.

Or, just watch a live stream of the event through the Coca-Cola Space Science Center or the Slooh Community Observatory.

Happy eclipse-gazing!
