PHOENIX — Gay marriage supporters are still celebrating Friday’s court decision that overturned Arizona’s voter-approved ban on same sex marriage.
When she heard about the ruling, Rebecca Wininger, the board president of the gay-rights group Equality Arizona, said she thought it was a wonderful day.
“It’s a day that, as a native Arizonan, I honestly thought that I would never see in my lifetime, or that it would happen incredibly late in my lifetime,” said Wininger. “To have it happen before I turn 50 is outstanding.”
Wininger and her partner have been together for five years. They are not married, but Wininger said they now have a decision to make.
