The news surrounding the water crisis in Flint, Michigan, has been overwhelmingly negative — and rightly so.

Since April 2014, more than 99,000 people have been plagued with lead-contaminated tap water as a result of a change in water source, from treated Detroit Water and Sewerage Department water to the Flint River, which officials did not treat for corrosion control.

In the past year, approximately 12,000 children have been exposed to health problems, eight lawsuits have been filed against city officials and multiple investigations have been opened.

But one little boy is working to make sure the children in Flint, Michigan schools are able to keep themselves safe, according to the Huffington Post.

Seven-year-old Isiah Britt raised more than $10,000 to buy hand sanitizer for elementary schools in the city in order to keep themselves from getting sick and avoiding the use of tap water.

Isiah said he felt like he needed to help the kids after his mother, Danielle Britt, told him most kids his age in Flint could not drink the water.

Danielle said they first approached Eisenhower Elementary in Flint with bottled water, but decided to send hand sanitizer after school officials asked for it.

Initially, Danielle set up a GoFundMe account to raise $500 to supply the school with sanitizer,  but decided to extend the campaign two days later after reaching his goal.

This time, the goal extended to $10,000 — enough money to send hand sanitizer to every school in Flint, according to the article.

“Now I am going to try to send some boxes to another school too!” Isiah wrote on his GoFundMe page. “There are a lot of kids who need clean hands!”

As of Feb. 25, the page has raised more than $11,000. In an interview with ABC, Isiah said, “It doesn’t matter if you’re small, it doesn’t mean you can’t do big things.”
