PHOENIX — It’s on, taco lovers.

This weekend’s Arizona Taco Festival at Salt River Fields near Scottsdale kicks off at 11 a.m. Saturday.

More than 40 teams from eateries including Milagro Grill, America’s Taco Shop, Gallo Blanco/Otro Cafe, Taco Guild and a group that calls itself the Taco Pirates, from Cottonwood, put their skills on the line for a $10,000 prize.

Over the two days, attendees will have their choice of $2 street tacos from the vendors, along with drinks, watching cooking demonstrations, eating contests and a chihuahua pageant.

General admission is $12, $20 for a two-day pass. VIP tickets are $100, which nets the buyer 10 tacos, a half-dozen alcoholic beverages and a water or soda.

The festival ends Sunday at 7 p.m.

We want to hear from you.
