PHOENIX — The Phoenix Suns will promote domestic violence awareness during their Thursday night preseason matchup with the San Antonio Spurs.
In observance of National Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and all fans entering US Airways Center will receive a “Paint Phoenix Purple” wristband. The Suns will be donning their purple road uniforms to coordinate with the theme.
The team will also accept any wireless phones and accessories that fans want to recycle, with proceeds going to domestic violence organizations locally and nationwide. Fans who donate a phone will receive two complimentary tickets to the game.
Suns President Jason Rowley will recognize city of Phoenix staff (which is leading the “Paint Phoenix Purple” campaign) prior to tip-off, as well as Valley men and women who serve as leaders in the effort to end domestic violence.
Also, the team has donated hundreds to tickets to local shelters for victims and their families to attend the game.
