PHOENIX — The Phoenix Fire Department responded to an active fire late Sunday morning at a residential home.
The Phoenix FD received a call about black smoke coming from a homeowner’s garage just before 11:30 a.m.
A fire engine arrived at the medium-sized house at 38th Avenue and Tierra Buena Lane and found active flames. Glendale fire crews also responded to the blaze.
Capt. Benjamin Santillan said fire crews were able to quickly extinguish the flames and keep them from extending into the rest of the home.
Santillan said five people and one small dog live at the home, but only the homeowner and the dog were present during the blaze. Both got out safely, Santillan said.
The fire captain said the cause of the blaze is still unknown, and that there were no reported injuries to any of the fire crews at the scene.
