PHOENIX — A suburban Phoenix animal-rescue group has turned the expression “going to the dogs” into a positive experience for dogs and their owners at its annual Barktoberfest.
Friends for Life Animal Rescue’s party will take over Gilbert Civic Center on Oct. 11 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Contests, arts and crafts, raffles, competitions, a parade, demonstrations and pet adoptions are slated for the day. Vendors will be on site to provide food for people and pets.
The volunteer rescue group has organized the event for 15 years.
Dogs in attendance must be vaccinated and kept on a leash.
