PHOENIX — A shooting instructor has died after he was shot in the head by a 9-year-old student in Mohave County.
Charles Vacca, 39, was shot at an outdoor range Monday. He had been showing the girl how to use an automatic Uzi when she pulled the trigger. The recoil caused the rifle to jerk over her head. Vacca was hit.
Mohave County Sheriff’s officials said the accident happened at the Last Stop shooting range in White Hills.
The girl was there with her parents.
Vacca died at a Las Vegas hospital, where he had been airlifted.
