PHOENIX — Police are searching for a man accused of posing as a real estate agent and stealing down payments on homes.
Police allege 31-year-old Alfredo Juarez Gandarilla has been committing the thefts since last June. It is believed he’s stolen about $45,000.
“They’re paying $1,500 to as high as $11,000 and getting nothing,” said Sgt. Tommy Thompson. “He’s selling them homes he doesn’t have the right to sell.”
Thompson said Gandarilla allegedly gives homebuyers addresses and lockbox codes to vacant homes.
Eight victims have been identified so far.
