PHOENIX — There are a lot of folks hoping things get a little “weird” in Glendale, Ariz., during the big game next year.
As of Thursday evening, more than 84,000 people have signed a petition on Change.org urging the NFL to have “Weird Al” Yankovic perform during halftime at the Super Bowl. The petition also suggests that the artists of the songs he’s parodying, as well as surprise appearances from other well-known actors and actresses, could join him on stage.
Weird Al’s new album, “Mandatory Fun,” recently hit No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart. It is the first time the artist has done so in his 30-year-plus career and the first time a comedy album has topped the charts since 1963.
