PHOENIX — Phoenix police say a potentially radioactive piece of construction equipment was stolen from a south Phoenix business.
A soil density meter was taken Wednesday from a business at 4300 S. 34th Street and contains three radioactive materials. The machine is fine when fully intact, but if the meter is broken, the results could be hazardous.
Authorities are warning whomever may come across the equipment to not go near it and to immediately call police.
Phoenix Police Sgt. Steve Martos said it is possible the person involved in this burglary may not even know what this item is or the potential hazard it poses.
