Unaccompanied migrant children to be housed at Arizona boys’ ranch

PHOENIX — The Pinal County Sheriff’s Office said the U.S.Department of Homeland Security planned to transfer about 50 unaccompanied migrant boys to the Sycamore Canyon Academy in Oracle, Ariz.

The director of the ranch confirmed that Homeland Security has been in negotiations with the facility to temporarily shelter the boys.

The facility has already increased staffing.

Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu said his department already had its hands full with regular duties.

“Local residents have every right to be upset and to protest. Our federal government has failed to enforce any immigration laws,” he said in a release.
