Republican presidential candidate Jeb Bush asks crowd to ‘please clap’ during speech

Feb 8, 2016, 10:00 AM

Looks like Jeb Bush might need to remove the exclamation point from his campaign slogan after this.

In a video that will more than likely make you say, “Poor Jeb,” the Republican presidential candidate was speaking to a crowd in New Hampshire about leadership last week when he grudgingly asked his so-called supporters to clap for him.

“(The next president) needs to be a lot quieter, but send a signal that we’re prepared to act in the national security interest of this country to get back in the business of creating a more peaceful world,” he said, pausing after for what he expected to be applause.

“Please clap,” Bush said, finally drawing a round of applause.

The event is just another example of the presumptive Republican front runner’s fall from grace and — just days ahead of the New Hampshire primary –is not a great sign of how the election will fare for Bush.

In a party that is dominated by businessman Donald Trump and Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, who took the lead in the Iowa caucus, Bush has fallen sharply behind. The former Florida governor came in sixth in the Iowa caucus, with just 2.8 percent of the vote.
