PHOENIX — A 2-year-old girl drowned Wednesday morning in a backyard pool in Scottsdale, Ariz., a police official said.

Mark Clark said the drowning occurred at a home at 9910 E. Pinnacle Peak Road. The girl “slipped away” from adult supervision and was found in the pool about 10 a.m. It is not known how long she was in the water.

The pool is not fenced.

The girl was visiting Arizona from out-of-state and was staying in the home along with family members who rented it for their stay.

Police are investigating. The girl’s name has not been released.
