PHOENIX — Crews finished road repairs more than two weeks ahead of schedule on a highway in the northern part of the state, the Arizona Department of Transportation said Tuesday.
Three miles of State Route 89A, known as the “switchbacks,” between Sedona and Flagstaff were closed for repairs June 1 after being delayed by the Slide Fire.
Crews resurfaced the highway, removed loose rock from steep cliff walls and repaired a bridge during the closure.
Crews will return to the work site next month for lane striping. No closures will be necessary.
