PHOENIX — A trip to the hospital after a robbery at the store where he worked likely saved the life of a Phoenix man.

Convenience store manager Jerimiah Wiley told AZ Family that he was pistol-whipped during a robbery last month at the store he manages near 19th Avenue and Osborn Road.

A visit to an emergency room included a brain scan that detected a tumor.

Wiley has undergone one surgery and expects to undergo two more.
