A man and woman in a sedan were killed in the accident at Brown and Recker roads. One of the injured was taken to a hospital in critical condition, Mesa Police said. A fourth suffered minor injuries.

Authorities said a woman speeding in an SUV hit the sedan, which was waiting at a red light. Both occupants were killed. That car then smashed into another car, and a fourth car was clipped.

The intersection was expected to be shut down for hours.
