PHOENIX — The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) is warning the public about fraudulent websites claiming to offer motor vehicle services.
ADOT’s Harold Sanders said to beware of bogus websites offering services like driver’s licenses and vehicle titles and registrations in exchange for credit card information.
“ServiceArizona.com is the Arizona Department of Transportation MVD’s official Internet website and authorized to do various types of MVD transactions,” he said.
No other website is authorized to do those transactions, Sanders said. ADOT does not allow the initial issuance or renewal of a driver’s license over the Internet.
The fake websites appear in searches with keywords like “MVD” or “DMV.” They promise services that are not fulfilled, but still charge to the credit card provided.
