ADOT kicks off ‘Name the Ringtail’ contest for new driver’s licenses

Jun 3, 2014, 5:54 PM | Updated: 5:54 pm

PHOENIX — The Arizona Department of Transportation needs your help in naming a critter that appears on the new driver’s licenses.

The official state mammal is the ringtail, a cat-sized carnivore that resembles a fox with a raccoon-like tail. As part of the new design, the ringtail will now appear in the lower right corner of the license.

But the little guy needs a name.

The “Name the Ringtail” contest began Monday and ends Friday. The winner receives bragging rights.

The new adult and minor driver’s licenses will be available statewide starting June 16. The updated design will feature new security features.

We want to hear from you.
