PHOENIX — In a joint effort to bring awareness to a good cause, the Arizona Cardinals and the Phoenix Police Department held a fundraiser on Tuesday to raise money for the Phoenix Police Foundation.

Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald joined former players Roy Green and Frank Sanders to recognize law enforcement during Tuesday’s event. The fundraiser also included a raffle for football memorabilia and a silent auction for golf tournaments with Green and Fitzgerald.

Green said it is important for football fans to recognize and thank law enforcement officers for the work they do, just like they praise the players on the field.

“People don’t recognize (police officers) as they do us athletes,” Green said. “But the job they do is just unbelievable.”

As part of the event, Green and Fitzgerald were named honorary Phoenix police officers.

“This is about the Phoenix Police Department and the Arizona Cardinals support of law enforcement,” Green said.

The Phoenix Police Foundation helps raise funds for Phoenix Police for various needs, such as K-9 units, technology and the SWAT team.
