PHOENIX — As if they weren’t already, Arizona Cardinals fans got a little extra boost of excitement for Sunday’s NFC Championship Game against the Carolina Panthers during a large pep rally on Thursday.
About 3,000 fans attended the Big Red Rage Rally at Majerle’s Sports Grill in Chandler, Arizona, listening to Cardinals players Larry Fitzgerald, Calais Campbell and Patrick Peterson.
Members of the Birdgang said they are more than ready for the Cardinals to defeat the Panthers and move on to the Super Bowl.
“I’m really excited, we’ve waited a long time here in Arizona to have a team that can finally contend,” said Cardinals fan Everett, who declined to give his last name.
“I don’t think I’ve been excited more than this in a while,” said Cardinals fan Connor, who also declined to give his last name.
Connor and fellow Cardinals fan Cody said they will be watching the game at home. He said the Cardinals are undefeated on the road this year when they watch the game at home.
“The team will be pulling their weight so we need to pull ours,” Connor said.
Cardinals fan Ryan said he’ll join other members of the Birdgang to watch the game Sunday.
“We’re gonna be loud,” Ryan said.
Cardinals fan Ron said he’ll be at his son’s house for a Cardinals party.
“We were hoping they’d open the stadium, ’cause I think we could fill it,” Ron said.
For members of the Birdgang wanting one more glimpse of the team before Sunday’s game, they can visit Sky Harbor Saturday morning for the Big Red Send-Off.
