PHOENIX — They may no longer be with us, but Alan Rickman and David Bowie will return to the big screen at a Phoenix-area theater for the next week.
Harkins Theaters’ Valley Art location in downtown Tempe will honor the late stars with a week-long festival that will feature some of their best-known films. The theater held a similar festival when Robin Williams passed away.
While the tribute will only include one film from Bowie — the Jim Henson classic “Labyrinth” — several films starring Rickman will be shown.
“Rickman was a unique and well-loved actor,” theater owner Dan Harkins said in a press release. “Throughout his career, Rickman brought many characters to life particularly with his distinctive voice and expressions. He will live on through his work for years to come.”
The four Rickman films the theater will show are “Die Hard,” “Galaxy Quest,” “Love Actually” and “Truly Madly Deeply.”
All proceeds from the festival will be donated to Save the Children, an organization that promotes children’s rights and provides relief and support to children in developing nations.
The full schedule of films and tickets to showings are available at HarkinsTheaters.com. Tickets can also be purchased at the Harkins Valley Art box office, located near Fifth Street and Mill Avenue in Tempe.
Rickman, 69, died Jan. 14 after a battle with cancer.
Bowie, also 69, passed away Jan. 10.
