PHOENIX — Three members of the Arizona Task Force 1 (AZ-TF1) have been deployed to aid in the search and rescue efforts after a deadly mudslide in Snohomish County, Washington.
The AZ-TF1 is just one of 28 National Search and Rescue teams that are deployed when there is a local or national disaster. The three task force members join more than 100 others who are also aiding in the search. Their deployment is expected to last for 14 days.
On Saturday, a 1-square-mile mudslide occurred on a hillside in Oso, Wash., 55 miles northeast of Seattle. At least 16 people have died, and dozens more remain missing.
