PHOENIX — Here’s one reason to be thankful for all the wacky weather Arizona has had this past week: Phoenix Zoo will be extending its annual holiday lights display due to the recent El Niño storms.
ZooLights, Phoenix Zoo’s annual lights display, will be extended to Jan. 15 after originally being scheduled until Jan. 10.
Linda Hardwick, director of communications at Phoenix Zoo, said zoo officials decided to extend the event due to the number of visitors who were not able to come out due to the rain.
“The rain had literally dampened the last week of ZooLights and we were receiving lots of phone calls from people who had purchased tickets and they weren’t able to come because of the unprecedented rain the Valley received,” she said.
ZooLights will be open every night from 5:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.
Value ticket prices, when tickets for the public are $12 at the door and $10 online ($10 at the door and $8 online for zoo members), will be offered starting Jan. 10 through 15.
