PHOENIX — Travelers will soon have a few more options when it comes to flying out of Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport.
Frontier Airlines announced Thursday it would add four new routes — Portland, Seattle, Atlanta and Detroit — from the Valley of the Sun.
Service to both Atlanta and Detroit will begin on April 15.
Frontier said it plans to offer an average one-way fare of $119, placing it about $80 below the industry average. As a promotional offer, the airline will offer one-way flights to both from Phoenix for $79 each.
Service to the Pacific Northwest will begin later in the summer. Flights to Seattle from Phoenix will start June 29, while flights to Portland begin one day later.
Frontier plans to offer flights to both locations for a one-way average of $79, about $60 cheaper than the industry average. Eager travelers can take advantage of promotional fares for these routes as well: One-way tickets to Seattle are $49 for a limited time, while Portland fares are $10 more.
All the promotional deals were made available Thursday on Frontier’s website.
While the prices are lower than most competitors, travelers should be aware that Frontier is a budget airline, meaning it does charge fees for bags and other services.
The additional Phoenix flights were part of a larger nationwide expansion that saw the airline add a total of 42 routes to its system.
