PHOENIX — Two men with affiliation to the Phoenix Suns are in talks to purchase a Spanish soccer team, according to the Phoenix Business Journal.
Phoenix Suns Managing Partner Robert Sarver and former Suns point guard Steve Nash are a part of a group trying to buy Real Club Deportivo Mallorca, a soccer team in Spain.
Reports said Sarver has been trying to buy a soccer team “for months” and has been a part of previous bids for European soccer teams such as the Glascow Rangers.
The specifics of the deal are not available at the time of publication.
If the deal goes through, Sarver will join the likes of St. Louis Rams owner Stan Kroenke, former Cleveland Browns owner Randy Lerner and Boston Red Sox owner John Henry in recently-acquired premier European soccer teams.
