PHOENIX — The White House hosted its first-ever film festival Friday and Arizona was represented.
A film by 17-year-old Shelly Ortiz was one of 16 finalists that was screened in front of President Barack Obama and others.
All the films were required to focus on technology and its impact on classrooms and the future of education. Ortiz’s film focused on technology allowing her to find a love for telling stories using film, including the difficulties suffered by her father, who was raised in an orphanage.
