PHOENIX — Crowd-pleasing Phoenix restaurant Matt’s Big Breakfast will be expanding to the East Valley next year, according to a report.

The Phoenix Business Journal reported this week that owner Matt Pool will be taking up a spot in Tempe’s Marina Heights development at Town Lake, near Arizona State University.

Matt’s started out in a small building in downtown Phoenix then moved to a larger spot nearby on First and Roosevelt streets in 2012. The restaurant serves breakfast and lunch.

Last year, Pool added a location at Sky Harbor Airport in Terminal Four. That, too, has been successful.

The Marina Heights project will serve as a regional hub for State Farm insurance when it is completed.

There is room for about 8,000 employees at the 2-million-square-foot area.
