PHOENIX — A staple in Scottsdale’s nightlife has closed — Dos Gringos has been sold and shut down.
The Valley-based food blog Mouth by Southwest reported that the Old Town grill and cantina would reopen soon as another Mexican-food place.
The other three Dos Gringos sites will remain intact. Those are in Chandler, Mesa and Tempe.
The Scottsdale location — the original — of the chain was popular among clubgoers for several years after opening in 1999. Boasting a patio bar and a rooftop bar, Dos Gringos led the charge that turned the area into a Friday and Saturday night hot spot.
A group based in Chicago bought the restaurant.
