GLENDALE, Ariz. — If you haven’t been to a drive-in movie for a while, Thursday might be a good night to go.
The Glendale 9 Drive-in is offering free movies as part of its Customer Appreciation Night.
Several of this summer’s movie hits will be shown on the big screens.
“We’re going to be showing ‘Ironman 3′ on the big screen for free, ‘White House Down,’ ‘World War Z’ and for the kids, ‘Monsters University,'” said General Manager Travis Brown.
There will also be live entertainment and bounce houses for the kids. The gates open 6 p.m.
The drive-in became the last in the Valley to switch to a digital format at at no small cost.
Now, you can actually take a look at it during the Customer Appreciation Night. The drive-in is offering tours of its new all-digital projection booth.
“We actually do booth tours almost nightly,” said Brown. “We kind of give a presentation to the kids as a learning tool to let them know that this is where movies are now, compared to 5 years ago, 10 years ago, 15 years ago and what people actually viewed back then.”
One of the drive-in’s old 35 mm projectors is now on display in a “museum” that is in the snack bar.
