Scottsdale city officials have approved a plan to replace the ritzy Borgata of Scottsdale shopping center with condominiums.
Rezoning to accommodate the Residences at the Borgata was given the OK at Monday night’s general City Council meeting, listed near the end of the evening’s agenda. A general plan amendment was also approved.
AV Homes plans to construct a four-story, 218-unit multifamily complex at the site near Scottsdale Road and Lincoln Drive.
The shopping center would be demolished save for two restaurants.
The council heard public testimony from 22 citizens, several of whom objected to the plan.
