Scientists have figured out a way to produce a flu vaccine, specifically for people with severe egg allergies.
A little creature known as the armyworm is be used in the process rather than chicken eggs.
The vaccine is called Flublok and has been recently approved by the FDA.
“It will be available in some amounts this influenza season and in larger amounts next year,” said Dr. Karen Lewis with the Arizona Department of Health.
According to Lewis, the vaccine is produced quickly which means if there was to be a pandemic, doses would be made available sooner.
