Weekend events for Aug. 9-11

PHOENIX – Looking for something for something to do this weekend in the Valley? The list below offers a few options.

Tim McGraw

The most famous voice in country music is coming to the Valley. The concert will be taking place at the Salt River Fields at Talking Stick and it will start at 5 p.m. Tickets range from $20 to $160.

‘Dazed and Confused’ screening

The Film Bar keeps its Summer Camp film series going with the coming of age film about the last day of school for a group of students set in the summer of 1976. The film will be showing Saturday at 2 p.m. Tickets are $8.

Los Tigres del Norte

The five-man norteño band is bringing their newest music to the Gila River Reservation. If you’re into Mexican band music, this is the place to be. The concert is this Friday and begins at 8 p.m. Tickets are $60 to $200.

Tempe Comedy Concert Series: Bruce Braum

Bruce Braum, whose comedic work has been featured on “The Simpsons,” “Full House,” and “Whose Line Is it Anyway?” will be coming to the Tempe Center for the Arts. The event is Friday and starts at 7:30 p.m. Tickets range from $10 to $25.

Perseid Meteor shower

The biggest meteor shower of the year will have you in awe, and you can view at the San Tan Mountain Regional Park. The event is Saturday and starts at 9 p.m. There will be a parking fee of $6.

The Jonas Brothers

The Disney Channel trio is coming to the Valley! If your kids are fans of One-Direction or Justin Bieber, they might also enjoy the Jonas Brothers at Comerica Theathre. The concert is Friday and begins at 7 p.m. Tickets range from $40 to $80.

Theater Works New Works Festival

For all theater lovers, Theater Works will open a summer festival by performances from Phoenix writers. Performances will begin Friday and run until Sept. 1 at the Peoria Center for the Performing Arts. Tickets range from $9 to $13.

CopperCon: Revolution

If you couldn’t make it to this year’s Comic-Con there’s still one more chance to catch up on all things sci-fi. The event will take place at the Windermere Hotel and Conference Center. Tickets are $45, $23 for ages 7 -12, and kids under six are free.

Prowl & Play at the Phoenix Zoo

Music, games and prizes from Disney Radio await the little ones at the Phoenix Zoo. Camel, carousel and many other animal rides will be available for additional fees. The event is Saturday and starts at 6:00 p.m. Tickets are $15.

Summer Night Ride Series

For those who love bike riding, you might want to try your luck at Pemberton Trail in the McDowell Mountain Park. The event starts at 7:30 p.m. There is a $6 fee per vehicle.
